A Row of Latest Camera Features That the iPhone 13 Brings

The iPhone 13 didn't bring any significant design changes, that's why Apple focused on providing internal upgrades in its latest phones to attract consumers' attention. One of them is through the camera technology on the iPhone 13 Pro which brings many improvements.

For the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, the camera specifications are still the same as the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini. Both have a 12 MP wide camera (with an f/1.6 aperture) and a 12 MP ultrawide camera (with an f/2.4 aperture).

But for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, Apple has included many additional photography features in the form of enhanced low-light performance, macro photography, and cinematic video.

Taking low-light photos on the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will be easier thanks to the larger main lens aperture of f/1.6. The ultrawide lens has also been increased from f/2.4 on the iPhone 12 Pro, to f/1.8 on the iPhone 13 Pro.

This wider aperture should be able to capture more light and improve photo quality. Apple claims the ultrawide lens on the iPhone 13 Pro brings an increase of up to 92% for taking photos in low-light conditions.

The telephoto lens used by the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max has also been upgraded. Although the aperture is smaller than its predecessor, the iPhone 13 Pro can take zoom photos without compromising photo quality thanks to the 77mm telephoto lens. This telephoto lens also supports night mode, a feature that is missing on the iPhone 12 Pro.

Apple is also bringing macro mode to the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. This mode works by combining an ultrawide lens and an autofocus system to get closer to objects up to 2 cm away. This mode can also be used to record videos, even slow-mo videos.

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini are also not left behind. Apple presents new Photographic Styles and Cinematic Mode features for iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, as quoted from TechCrunch, Wednesday (15/9/2021).

The Photographic Styles feature can directly edit photos in real time even while the photo is still being rendered. So photographers can choose one of four presets before clicking the shutter button to see how their final photo will look.

While Cinematic Mode allows users to record video and then change the blur in the background and focus. This feature can help users produce Hollywood-style videos with only an iPhone 13.
