Apple and Xiaomi can't overtake Samsung as the king of HP Q3 2021

Research company Canalys still ranks Samsung as the king of the world's mobile phones throughout the third quarter (Q3) 2021. However, the global HP market has experienced a decline due to shortages of chipsets and components.

Samsung was in first place in the shipment of mobile phones worldwide from July to September. This South Korean technology giant is able to control 23% of the global HP market share.

When compared with the same period the previous year, Samsung did not experience a decrease or increase. This condition is different from Apple which is in second position.

The company led by Tim Cook controlled 15% of the market during Q3 2021. The presence of the iPhone 13 is likely to cause Apple's market share to increase from 12% in Q3 2020.

In line with Samsung, Xiaomi, which is in third position, experienced 0% growth in Q3 2021 compared to Q3 2020. Xiaomi's market share was 14%.

Vivo and Oppo are in fourth and fifth positions. Both have a market share of 9% with an annual growth rate of 1%. Here's the full table:

Regarding HP shipments in Q3 2021, Canalys noted that during the July-September period there was a decrease of 6% compared to the same time last year. The scarcity of components in the midst of a global chipset shortage that is currently still ongoing is the main cause.

According to some estimates it will take at least another year before supply and demand balance.

Even so, Canalys is optimistic that Q4 2021 the global HP market will grow better. Because there are three important moments that are the driving force, namely Single's Day in China, Black Friday in the US and European markets and year-end holidays. All of that will open up opportunities for HP companies to improve sales performance that is stronger this year.
