Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, claims to be ready to donate USD 6 billion to tackle world hunger. This is his response to comments from Executive Director of the World Food Program David Beasley.
In an interview with CNN some time ago, Beasley said Musk could save 42 million people from starvation just by donating USD 6 billion or 2% of his total wealth.
Researcher Dr. Eli David then commented on the article about the Beasley interview. He asked how WFP, which raised USD 8.4 billion in 2020, would be able to tackle world hunger with only USD 6 billion.
Shortly after David uploaded his teasing, Musk responded by saying that he was ready to sell his stake in Tesla and donate USD 6 billion right now.
"If WFP can explain in this Twitter thread how USD 6 billion can alleviate world hunger, I will sell Tesla shares right now and donate it," Musk was quoted as saying by Business Insider on Monday (1/11/2021).
"But the finances must be open source, so that the public can see exactly how the money is used," he continued.
If WFP can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $ 6B will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it.

Beasley then responded to Musk's teasing and said that the title of the article was inaccurate. He said USD 6 billion would not solve world hunger, but could prevent global instability, mass migration, and save 42 million people from the threat of hunger.
In the next tease, Beasley then invites Musk to work together to solve this global problem. He also ensured that WFP already had a transparent system and open source finance.
"Let's talk: It's not as complicated as the Falcon Heavy, but it's too much at stake for us to at least start a conversation. I'll take the next flight to see you. Kill me if you don't like what you hear," Beasley added in a further tease.
In response to the call for discussion, Musk asked Beasley to release WFP's current and proposed spending in detail so people could see where the funds were going.
Musk himself is currently the richest man in the world with a fortune of USD 289 billion. It is predicted to be the first trillionaire in the world.
Musk's wealth is currently donated by the electric car company Tesla, which he heads. But going forward, SpaceX, which is one of Musk's companies, is predicted to provide more money as the space business accelerates.
