MacOS Monterey Makes Mac Intel Broken

Apple just released MacOS Monterey in full some time ago, and now reports are emerging that the update is causing a number of Intel-based Mac devices to crash.

A number of users have reported that their devices won't start (brick) after updating to MacOS Monterey. There are also those who report that the port on their Mac device can't be used and some are 'stuck' in the update process that has just finished.

"I updated my MacBook Pro 2018 and everything was fine until the screen suddenly went black and now it won't turn on," wrote one user in a discussion forum on Apple's website.

"I've checked the power plug, cable, charger, everything. I pressed the power button for 10 seconds and nothing happens. I don't see any signs of life on my MacBook," he added.

Various similar complaints also appeared on Twitter. Here are some examples of his tweets.

Uniquely, from the reports that have appeared, all of them use Mac devices with Intel processors. So far there have been no reports of the issue occurring on Macs with M1 chips.

But if you remember, a similar problem actually occurred when Apple released macOS Big Sur. So this problem in Monterey is like a repeat that almost happens every time a new operating system is released.

So far there has been no response regarding this issue from Apple.

MacOS Monterey was first showcased to the public at WWDC 2021. There are a number of new features that Apple has embedded in the OS, such as Universal Control, AirPlay to Mac, and others.

"macOS Monterey is packed with features that help Mac users get more done, connect with friends and family in amazing new ways, and work on Mac and iPad more seamlessly than ever before," said Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of software engineering. .
