Elon Musk Questions New Boss Twitter: Indian Talent Benefits US

Jack Dorsey announced his resignation as CEO of Twitter. His successor is Parag Agrawal, a man of Indian descent who previously served as Twitter's Chief Technology Officer.

The news of the change of leadership on Twitter certainly immediately shocked social media. Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is often vocal on Twitter, also responded.

Initially, Stripe CEO Patrick Collison talked about Agrawal, who is the first Indian to be hailed as the boss of a technology company. Musk then responded to Collison's taunts while praising India's digital talent in the United States.

"Google, Microsoft, Adobe, IBM, Palo Alto Networks, and now Twitter are led by CEOs who are growing big in India. Glad to see the success of Indians in the world of technology and be a reminder of the opportunities America offers to immigrants. Congratulations, @paraga !, "wrote Collison in his tease, as quoted from India Today, Wednesday (1/12/2021).

"The United States has greatly benefited from Indian talent," Musk replied.

Agrawal became the sixth Indian to lead a Silicon Valley company. It follows in the footsteps of the likes of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Adobe President and CEO Shantanu Narayen and IBM Group CEO Arvind Krishna.

Agrawal is a graduate of engineering and computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology in Mumbai, India. He then moved to the US to pursue a doctoral education at Stanford University in 2005-2012.

Prior to joining Twitter, the 37 -year -old worked at Microsoft, Yahoo, and AT&T. In 2011, Agrawal then moved to Twitter and six years later he was appointed CTO of Twitter.

In an email sent to Twitter staff, Dorsey said Agrawal was elected Twitter's CEO after going through a rigorous selection process by the board of directors. He also said that his successor was involved in every important decision taken by the company.

"He leads with heart and soul, and I continue to learn from him every day. My trust in him as our CEO is very deep," Dorsey said of Agrawal in his email.
