Studies from language learning app Babble and The British Institute of Verbatim Reporters help find out which words are often mispronounced in 2021. Esteven Touma, a teacher at Babble, says that readers usually have a hard time pronouncing new words or names that are going viral on the internet.
"It's always interesting for us to see the most frequently mispronounced terms every year, as they are usually new regional languages or words borrowed from, or derived from, other languages," he said.
"When they become colloquial, it's nice to see people at least try to pronounce them correctly, because having the confidence to pronounce new words and phrases is one of the most important aspects when learning a language," Touma continues.

5. Dalgona (Read: tal-goh-NAH)
His name became increasingly popular when 'Squid Game' from Netflix brought the name 'Dalgona Candy' which is a Korean snack made from melted sugar mixed with baking soda.
