Xiaomi has so far launched one folding screen cellphone, MIX FOLD. The latest rumors reveal information about the next generation folding screen cellphone from Xiaomi, which is reportedly similar to Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3.
This rumor comes from the famous Tipster Digital Chat Station. In the post on Weibo, DCS said Xiaomi was preparing a folding screen that folded vertically, or in other words it had a clamshell design.
DCS also reveals that this phone will have a screen with FHD + resolution with 120 Hz refresh rate. The innards will use the Snapdragon 8 Series and have a 50 MP main camera, as quoted from Gizmochina, Tuesday (18/1/2022).
But what's interesting is information about the price. Because it has a thin and light design and targeting women's users, this Xiaomi folding screen called will come at a price equivalent to mainstream flagship phones in general.
This is certainly surprising considering that the folding screen cellphone is still an exclusive product at exorbitant prices. For example, Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold which slid last year was priced at prices starting at 9,999 yuan.
The existence of this Clamshell folding screen cellphone is actually not surprising. Last month, Xiaomi registered a new patent for a cellphone folding screen designed Clamshell to Chinese National Intellectual Property Association (CNIPA).
From the registered scheme it looks that the cellphone design is similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 3, complete with two rear cameras and a small secondary screen beside it.
But keep in mind that information about this Xiaomi folding screen is just a rumor that has not been confirmed. If this rumor proved accurate, then Xiaomi will compete with Samsung, Huawei, and Motorola who have launched a cellphone folding screen Clamshell first.
