After being demonstrated because of poisoning workers, the iPhone factory again opened

Apple supplier, Foxconn, again opened its factory in India since it was closed on December 18, 2020. This closure was forced to be carried out because of the protest from severe workers after 250 workers fell ill due to food poisoning.

Launching from Reuters, one of the company's officials who was kept secret by his name said the factory was reopened after three weeks covered with one shift and total workers 120.

The factory is located in the city of Sripumbudur near the capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai, before the incident had employed around 17,000 workers.

Apple had refused to give a response but finally said that the factory was still in a trial period. His side together with the independent auditor will continue to monitor the condition of the workers' dormitory to the dining room following the recent concern about food security and the quality of accommodation in the Foxconn of the Sriperumbudur region.

A spokesman for Foxconn Taiwan said that they were restructuring their local management team and took steps immediately to improve the facility and added that all employees would continue to be paid while making the repairs needed to restart operations.

Analysts also estimate that with the closure of the factory yesterday it would have an impact on the amount of iphone production less than usual.

The factory produces iPhone 12 and has also started the production of the iPhone 13 testing, it seems that it is strategically important in the long term one of the efforts to reduce dependence on the Chinese supply chain in the midst of trade tensions between Washington and Beijing.
