To be safe during Eid homecoming, check these 10 things before leaving the house

Homecoming has become a culture of our society, especially to celebrate the moment of Eid. For those of you who are planning to go home this Eid, check the points below before leaving!

The goal, of course, is so that the house you leave behind can be safe, you can also go home comfortably.

1. Unplug All Electricity

Make sure all electronic devices in your home are unplugged to prevent short circuits. Turn off lights, rice cookers, laptops, irons, pumps, dispensers, air conditioners, fans, and other electrical devices. It's also a good idea to unplug your refrigerator if you don't have any perishable foodstuffs stored at room temperature.

2. Make sure the stove is turned off

Check your kitchen again. Make sure the stove is not on. For those of you who use a gas stove, you should unplug the regulator to avoid the possibility of a gas cylinder leaking.

3. Leave Pets in a Trusted Place

Look for a pet care center that can guarantee that your pet is regularly fed and that its litter is cleaned regularly. Leave your pet in a place where you can guarantee the staff will always treat it well, and update your condition with videos or photos.

Communicate to the caretaker too, if your pet is sick so that the caretaker can separate him from other animals.

4. Reporting to the Head of RT

A few days before leaving, don't forget to report to the Head of the RT that your family is going home. This needs to be communicated so that your house is always monitored and its safety is guaranteed while you are in your hometown.

5. Clean the House

Don't forget to take out the trash so your house doesn't smell bad. You also need to clean your bathroom and bed so that when you return home, you can immediately rest comfortably.

6. Store valuables and valuables in the safest place

Put valuables and important letters in a place that is generally not a target for thieves and is not thought of by anyone. After that, it's a good idea to take a photo of the location of the item so you don't get confused when looking for it after returning from your hometown.

7. Keep Curtains and Windows Open

Curtains and windows that are closed for days can clearly indicate that your house is empty. So, you better open a little curtains and windows. However, before that, keep valuables, electronic devices, and important papers in a secret place.

8. Turn off the lights

Instead of turning on the lights so that at night your house looks like an inhabited person, you actually need to turn off your house lights. The lights that are on during the day actually look suspicious. For this, you can leave the key to your neighbor, the head of the RT, or the security guard at your complex to turn your house lights on and off at the appropriate time.

9. Lock Every Door and Fence of the House

The most important thing is, of course, lock all your bedroom doors and fences. Make sure the fence is really locked!

10. Leave the House Key to Your Nearest Neighbor

In line with point 4, entrust your house to a neighbor who is indeed the closest and at the same time reliable, who is easy to contact if there is an emergency. For that for some people, they will leave the keys to their neighbors. Maybe you also need to leave your house keys with your neighbors so they can receive and store your grocery packages in a safe place.

In addition, your neighbors can also help you see the condition of your house if the situation is in danger, affected by a flood or earthquake, for example. It's also okay after going home, giving gifts to neighbors who happen not to go home, as a sign of friendship and thank you for taking care of your house.

So, if that's the case, are you ready to go home safely and comfortably this year?
