MediaTek has updated its lineup of processing chips by introducing the Dimensity 930 and Helio G99. Both use TSMC’s 6nm technology with more powerful and efficient offerings than the previous generation.
MediaTek Dimensity 930 offers built -in 5G support and a replacement to the previous Dimensity 920. It comes with a combination of 2 x ARM Cortex-A78 at 2.2GHz speed and 6 x Arm Cortex-A55 at 2GHz speed. The GPU used is t IMG BMX-8-256. In addition, it also supports LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 -based storage.
Other specifications include-FHD+ screen support with refresh rate up to 120Hz, camera system support up to 108-Megapixels with video recording up to 2K 60FPS. For networking, it comes with Wi-Fi 5 (a/b/g/n/ac/ax), Bluetooth 5.2 and so on. It also supports True Dual 5G SIM (5G SA + 5G SA) for consistent 5G speeds.
The MediaTek Helio G99 is a 4G chip and focuses on affordable first devices. At the same time, it is also said to have 30% better power efficiency and battery life than the Helio G96.
For specifications, it comes with a combination of 2 x Arm Cortex-A76 at 2.2GHz speed and 6 x Arm Cortex-A55 at 2.0GHz speed. The GPU used is Arm Mali-G57 MC2, and memory support is limited to LPDDR4X and UFS2.2-based storage.
Other additional features supported include an FHD + screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz, a camera system of up to 108-Megapixels for one module or a 16-Megapixel + 16-Megapixel dual-camera setup with video recording up to 2K 30FPS.
According to MediaTek, smart devices with Dimensity 930 generation are expected to arrive around the second quarter of 2022. Meanwhile, smart devices with Helio G99 will be marketed around the third quarter of 2022.
