Qualcomm's M1 Competitor Chip Will Arrive On PCs By 2023

The Apple M1 chip is the first under the Apple Silicon family. Starting with this chip, Apple then offers the M1 Pro, M1 Max and M1 Ultra with higher performance. The advantage of the chip in the

M1 family so far is that it is able to offer high performance with lower power consumption than other chips on the market.

Other chipmakers like Qualcomm want to give competition to Apple in the near future. In an interview with Tom’s Hardware, Qualcomm CEO Christian Amon said the company is now on track to offer competitor chips to the M1 series by the end of 2023 for PCs.

The chip will prioritize performance but still save battery usage. It will also be designed by Nuvia, which is also responsible for developing the M1 chip. Nuvia was taken over by Qualcomm in 2021 with the company having several former Apple employees.

To what extent the performance of this chip from Qualcomm will be able to compete with the M1 is still unknown as 2023 is still far ahead. When it launches later, Apple will definitely have launched the Apple M3 chip which was recently reported to be being developed by Apple.
