Stunning, First Photo of the Giant Black Hole at the Center of the Milky Way

At the center of the Milky Way Galaxy, there is a super-massive or giant black hole object. Now for the first time, scientists managed to capture it in the form of images.

Known as Sagittarius A, this black hole is enormous in size, roughly equivalent to 4 million times the mass of the Sun.

The photo itself shows a black hole so dense that even light cannot escape. Then all around him was glowing superheated matter.

This photo was compiled by an international team of astronomers at the Harvard & Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. In the past, this team was also the one who took photos of black holes for the first time about 3 years ago.

"This is our super-massive black hole. Its location is at the center where we live," said Peter Galison, director of the Black Hole Initiative at Harvard.

This photo is the first direct visual evidence that there really is a giant black hole at the center of the Milky Way Galaxy, some 27,000 light-years from Earth.

"Seeing this glowing ring in the darkness of this black hole for the first time was amazing, but now that we've seen it twice, we're starting to have confidence that at the center of the galaxy is this incredible black hole that is millions or billions of times the mass of the Sun," added Peter.

Further research into these black holes could help investigate how the Milky Way formed. Oh yes, to capture it, scientists deploy telescopes in various parts of the world in a collaboration called the Event Horizon Telescope. The telescope can be said to be united together to capture the photo of the black hole.
