Apple showcased all new operating systems for its devices at WWDC 2022, including watchOS 9. Here are three interesting features in watchOS 9.
The first is a monitoring feature as well as a reminder to take medications, vitamins, or supplements for users. This feature is actually not exclusive in watchOS 9 because it is actually part of the Health app on iOS.
With this feature, users can register medications that are regularly taken, or need to be taken due to illness, into the application. The trick can be by typing manually and selecting from the existing list, or scanning the label on the medicine packaging.
Then they can schedule the medication, and will be notified when the time comes. Not only that, the Health application can also monitor if there are in the list there are drugs with negative effects if taken at the same time. But for the latter, it is currently only available in the United States.
The second interesting feature is an update on the abnormal heart rate monitor feature. So in watchOS 9, users who have an abnormal heartbeat can detect the duration of atrial fibrillation they are experiencing.
So users can get weekly notifications that contain information on the duration of atrial fibrillation they experienced during that week. Then in the Health application will also be given information about other factors that affect the heart rate such as sleep or exercise.
Then, the data if desired can be downloaded in PDF format and can be shown to doctors, as quoted by us from The Verge, Tuesday (7/6/2022).
The last is Sleep Insights. Currently, the Apple Watch is claimed to be able to improve the quality of users' sleep with the Wind Down and Bedtime features, as well as monitoring and reminding to be able to reach the target sleep duration.
Well in watchOS 9, the information provided can be more. The Apple Watch will use signals from the accelerometer and heart rate sensor to detect whether the user is experiencing rapid eye movement (REM), deep sleep, and so on.
Then users can view their sleep data in the Sleep app and see more of their sleep information, such as their heart rate and respiration rate.
