The iPhone is undeniably a good device with an operating system that provides a satisfactory user experience. But for some aspects, it is a bit behind and lately they have taken a lot of Android features and functions as inspiration.
Among the things I don’t like about the iPhone is, it doesn’t allow users to back up with mobile data. The device needs to be connected to WiFi only, then iOS backup can be done to iCloud.
This has changed since iOS 15, where backups can be done with mobile data if it’s 5G. Latest in iOS 16, Apple is testing support for backing up with LTE connectivity. It is no longer limited to 5G and this allows users to back up at any time as long as there is a stable LTE Internet connection.
This feature is provided in iOS 16 Beta 2 for developers. In this update as well, Apple has added some more interesting features and functions;
The background image on the lock screen now has DuoTone and Color Wash filters
The background image can be cropped by zooming in or out
The astronomy theme on the lock screen now has an indication of the user’s location
In system settings, the home screen background and lock screen are easier to modify
Screenshots can be directly saved to the Notes application
Screen locks that you do not want to use can be deleted
SMS can be filtered by category, but support is limited to selected countries and certain telecommunications services
Spam SMS can be reported directly to telecommunication services
The Translate app now supports Turkish, Thai, Polish, Indonesian, and Dutch
Developers can leverage the HealthKit API to support multiple sports activities simultaneously
iPads that support Stage Manage now have special settings
