Minister of Transport Malaysia, Datuk Seri Ir. Dr. Wee Ka Siong recently received visits from representatives of the South Korean rail industry, including Hyundai Corp, Hyundai Rotem Malaysia, EP Korea Railway and Maglev MKC.
While the government is seen wanting to resume the development of public transport projects such as the addition of KTMB, LRT and MRT lines, via a post on Wee Ka Siong's own official Facebook page, the Korean rail companies have met with the Transport Minister to discuss several development-related matters. local rail infrastructure.
One of the projects discussed included the development of a maglev train system (Magnetic Levitation) by the Managing Director of EP Korea Railway, Yoo Jai Tark in Putrajaya. Wee Ka Siong said that his ministry would hold further discussions soon with the Ministry of Federal Territories to develop such a monorail system in Putrajaya, specifically how it could be matched with other public transport systems.
Also present at the meeting were KTMB's Chief Executive Officer, Encik Rani Hisham bin Samsudin and the Director General of Land Railways of the MOT Rail Unit, Encik Shahriman Shafein.
