Upcoming Graphics Cards Seen Need A More Powerful Cooling System

 


While the technology of the average user is showing more environmentally friendly designs and using less power, the desktop computing industry seems to be moving in the opposite direction with the introduction of components that consume more power than ever before.


DigiTimes has reported that two companies that specialize in building computer component cooling systems, Auras Technology and Sun Max say that people will need to be prepared to build computers with higher power consumption if they want a powerful computer, as this seems to be the new norm for construction of graphics cards in the near future.



NVIDIA and AMD for example are expected to showcase their latest graphics card offerings in the next few months. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 is expected to consume as much as 600W of power when powered with modern computer games, while the upcoming AMD Radeon graphics card is seen to come with twice the amount of processing power compared to the most powerful offering in their RDNA 2 graphics card series.


Both Auras Technology and Sun Max say they have invested millions of dollars to build cooling components for these graphics cards, as well as for laptop cooling systems, specifically the vapor chamber cooling systems used on some ASUS laptops and so on this year.


It is expected that if you want to build a computer that uses the components of Intel Core i9, AMD Ryzen 9, RTX 4090 or the latest most powerful AMD graphics card, you will need a power supply with a total power of around 1200-1500W soon.



While this is not something new for those who are already involved in the hobby of building powerful computers, those who may just want to tame themselves in this industry may want to look at their computer building needs first.


Depending on the model of graphics card purchased, future graphics cards are also expected to not only consume a considerable amount of power, but will take up more expansion slots in the framework of your computer.
