Digital Nasional Berhad is the firm responsible for managing the 5G infrastructure in Malaysia, including expanding the network and others. DNB was previously owned by the Ministry of Finance, but the structure has been changed, whereby 30% will be owned by the government, and the remaining 70% will be divided between six telecommunication companies.
According to the latest report, it is said that each of the telecommunications companies involved will need to release around RM200 million each, for a stake of 11.7% in DNB.
This calculation is based on the injection of RM500 million by the Ministry of Finance, for a 30% stake in DNB.
For now, it is still in process, and according to the previous partnership, the telecommunications company is expected to complete various related matters and start introducing the 5G network as early as September.
According to the latest reports, it is said that Maxis and U Mobile are the last two companies that are in the process of signing an agreement regarding this DNB.
