The James Webb Telescope Takes the Most Distant Galaxy Ever Seen

Since starting operations last month, the James Webb space telescope has demonstrated its capabilities by taking pictures of galaxies that appear brighter and at higher resolution. Now it has set a new record by taking images of the most distant galaxies ever recorded in history.

The galaxy CEERS-93316 is estimated to be located 35 billion light-years from Earth. This successfully captured image shows what CEERS-93316 looked like when it was 235 million years after the Big Bang explosion. The existence of CEERS-93316 is only noticed now because the James Webb infrared camera instrument is sensitive enough to see it.
