Epson will stop production of laser printers by 2026 to make their products more environmentally friendly. The focus will be on the production of inkjet printers after this. As a first step, the sale of laser printers has been stopped in some markets.
Laser printers heat the ink in the toner before printing. Because of this it uses 85% more energy and emits 85% more carbon dioxide than an inkjet printer. For the near term Epson will continue to support customers using their laser printers. But this will be phased out.
