MCMC Bans People From Reuploading Provocative Content Deleted From TikTok And Instagram

After GE15, content with racial and religious provocations went viral on social media and was uploaded to the TikTok and Instagram platforms. After receiving reports from the public, a total of 101 contents that were found to touch on this sensitive issue were removed by TikTok and Instagram.

To ensure public order remains intact, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) today reminds the public not to re-upload this deleted content to their social media accounts. MCMC said they will take strict action against individuals who violate this ban for violating Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

So far 36 reports have been received and 20 of them have been resolved with the help of the PDRM. A total of 12 investigation papers have also been opened so far.
