Astro Wins Court Case For Violation Of Broadcasting Content From Unauthorized Channels On Commercial Premises

The High Court of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur has now issued a decision, showing that Astro won a case due to one of the local commercial premises committing a criminal offense by illegally broadcasting sports and entertainment.

This broadcast includes Premier League football content.

In this case, a premises called 42 East Pub & Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur was found to be broadcasting content on their premises, without a valid Astro commercial subscription.

The court determines which commercial premises must obtain a valid license, and cannot broadcast content from unauthorized sources or illegal channels from abroad.

This court decision also stipulates heavy penalties and fines for those who post illegal content on their commercial premises.
