The iPhone 14 Pro is the second smartphone to support emergency satellite communications, after the Huawei Mate50 which was the first device to support this technology. Then more and more products were introduced by various manufacturers such as Garmin inReach Messenger.
Huawei Mate Xs 2 will also support this feature later. Recently, Samsung reportedly will also introduce satellite communication support for emergency purposes through the Samsung Galaxy S23 device.
Sources say Samsung will work with Iridium Communications to integrate 66 low-orbit satellite communications technology. This feature will support sending SMS and also low resolution images. The Samsung Galaxy S23 is said to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, a new camera system, a more modern design with elements from the S22 Ultra and will use an RF-modem to enable satellite communication.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 series is expected to be launched in February 2023.
