The Aviation and Space Research Organization (ORPA) of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is counting down the first solar eclipse that can be seen in Indonesia, namely a hybrid solar eclipse.
A hybrid solar eclipse is a solar eclipse that has two different types of eclipses, which occur at one time in a row in one phenomenon.
"That is starting with an annular solar eclipse turning into a total solar eclipse, then returning to an annular solar eclipse in a short time," ORPA said in a statement, as seen Wednesday (11/1/2023).
Of course, this is a rare natural event that is too bad to pass up. Moreover, the phenomenon of the sun, moon and earth in a straight line can be observed by the people of Indonesia.
ORPA said the hybrid solar eclipse will take place on April 20, 2023 or less than 100 days from today. Interestingly, this natural phenomenon will occur during the fasting month.
Not all areas of Indonesia can witness a hybrid solar eclipse, because the best location to observe it is in eastern Indonesia, especially in Papua.
ORPA explained that the hybrid solar eclipse will begin on Kisar Island at 11.47 WIT when it occurs partially and peaks at 13.23 WIT, then reaches the final phase at 15.58 WIT.
Other areas that also get a golden opportunity to observe this hybrid solar eclipse sequentially include Maopora Island, Damar Island, Watubela Island, Antalisa Islands, Randepandai, Roswar, Num Island, Wooi in Serui, and ending in Biak City.
Meanwhile, other areas can witness it, only in the form of a partial solar eclipse that occurred in 38 provincial capitals in Indonesia.
For information, people who want to see it are advised not to observe the hybrid solar eclipse with the naked eye. Therefore, you need tools such as eclipse glasses or binoculars so that they don't have a fatal effect on your eyesight.
