Artificial Intelligence Developers Stable Diffusion, Midjourney And DeviantArt Sued By Artists

Stable Diffusion and Midjourney's artificial intelligence allows digital artwork to be produced in seconds after text input is provided by the user. The existence of this artificial intelligence received opposition from digital artists because it was trained using the digital works of human artists without permission. Yesterday three artists from the United States filed a lawsuit against Stability AI, Midjourney and DeviantArt.

Sarah Andersen, Kelly McKernan, and Karla Ortiz say the artificial intelligence Stable Diffusion, Midjourney and DreamUp developed by the three companies being sued violate the intellectual property of millions of artists worldwide without permission.

The lawsuit was filed by attorneys Matthew Butterick and Joseph Saveri Law Firm who have sued Microsoft, GitHub, and OpenAI for allegedly using other people's code taken without permission for CoPilot's artificial intelligence that can write code. Butterick in his blog said this is a step to ensure artificial intelligence is fair and ethical to everyone.
