Guessing the "Idiot" Who Wants to Be CEO of Twitter

Elon Musk has confirmed that he will not be CEO of Twitter forever and will be looking for "someone stupid enough" to accept the position of CEO of Twitter. Who do you think you want?

Keep in mind, Musk has so far not been looking for an official replacement for him. Not to mention that Musk often doesn't live up to his own words, and turns out to be defending himself in the Twitter CEO position.

However, if it is true that he will look for someone else to occupy the CEO position, maybe the figures below will be his choice, as we quoted from The Verge, Tuesday (17/1/2023).

Sheryl Sandberg

The former Meta COO might be the safest choice, especially if Musk -- as he says -- were to stick around to lead Twitter's engineering team. Sheryl Sandberg is a figure who is known to have good relations with advertisers. This is important for Twitter because they need to improve their relationship with advertisers, after Musk's actions left many advertisers behind on Twitter.

But Musk is also known to dislike Facebook, while Sandberg was previously synonymous with Facebook and Meta. Plus, after stepping down from Meta, it seems Sandberg is comfortable with his philanthropic life.

Emmet Shear

Emmet Shear is the co-founder and CEO of Twitch, who has proven himself able to monetize Twitch and then sell it to Amazon. So in terms of work experience, Shear should be the perfect fit to be a Twitter boss. What's more, Musk has stated his intention to turn Twitter into a video platform for creators.

But Shear has never led a public company, and Musk is planning to take Twitter back public after a few years. So far, Twitch has not been able to expand its business beyond the niche gamer market.

Vanessa Pappas

Vanessa Pappas is currently the CEOO of TikTok, and is the person behind YouTube's creator program. He is reportedly planning to leave TikTok in 2023.

But unfortunately Pappas is not a figure close to advertisers, because he mostly develops products and embraces creators.

Jim Lanzone

Jim Lanzone is currently the CEO of Yahoo and was the CEO of Tinder. He is close to media and advertisers, so Lanzone may be the right person to lead Twitter.

Even though Lanzone doesn't necessarily want to work for Musk, especially with the various controversial actions of the former world's richest man.

Kevin Systrom

As one of the founders of Instagram, Kevin Systrom's product knowledge cannot be underestimated. He quietly left Facebook/Instagram in 2018 after a "hustle" with Mark Zuckerberg. Systrom has also shown interest in social media a la TikTok, which is what Musk plans for Twitter. But it's also possible that Systrom has given up on working for someone with strong opinions like Musk after his Instagram was messed with by Zuck.
