Mysterious Flying Spirals in the Sky of Hawaii

The Japanese astronomical agency reported finding a mysterious flying spiral object in the sky of Hawaii, United States. What is this celestial phenomenon?

The National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ) reports that their Subaru-Asahi STAR Telescope captured this mysterious image. The shape is a spiral floating in the sky.

The position is in Maunakea, Hawaii, on January 18, 2023. These findings are also broadcast on their YouTube account.

"A mysterious floating spiral was seen over Maunakea on 18-01-2023. What an unusual sight! Do you know what it is?" they said throwing questions reported by NDTV, Sunday (29/1/2023).

This video got 606 likes and was watched 270 times. Many netizens have asked if this is an alien or Andromeda.

NAOJ some time later found the answer and announced it on Twitter. Apparently it was SpaceX's frozen rocket fuel.

According to Space.com, SpaceX launched its Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida on January 18, 2023. The Falcon 9 dumped excess fuel into the ocean, which appeared to be a mysterious spiral in the sky.

A mysterious celestial phenomenon has also recently occurred in the sky of Mount Merapi, DI Yogyakarta. A luminous object passed over Mount Merapi from being caught on video.

Netizens became excited about it. However, Research Center for Space Research at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Andi Prince confirmed that the luminous object was a satellite.

Andi explained that the satellite is a Falconsat-3 from the satellite development program carried out by USAFA or the United States Air Force Academy. The satellite crashed near the waters of Madagascar.

"The latest update, Falconsat-3 with Catalog Number NORAD 30776U, has been declared reentry or entered the Earth's atmosphere on January 23, 2023 at 18.23 UT (24 or January 2023 at 01.23 WIB) in the waters of the Indian Ocean near Madagascar," Andi said via text message, Thursday (26/1).
