Students Caught Making Assignments Using ChatGPT, Writing Too Neat

ChatGPT as artificial intelligence or AI software is indeed convincing in stringing words, even for the academic world. Well, apparently some students took advantage of this advantage to write assignments from lecturers, and in the end they were caught because they were judged to be too neat.

This was told by Antony Aumann, professor of philosophy at Northern Michigan University. He caught students using the technology because he suspected that their scientific papers were too coherent and too well structured. So it's not like the original student writing.

"I asked them to rewrite their respective papers. That's what I do if there is a case of plagiarism," he said as quoted by us from Futurism, Friday (20/1/2022).

Students who are caught using ChatGPT are currently not receiving severe sanctions. However, it might be different if in the future they repeat their actions again.

Lately, educational institutions may be confused by the existence of AI chatbots like ChatGPT, which are starting to be widely accessible. Even in the United States, not a few have started asking students to work on assignments by hand and the exam is done orally.

There are also educational institutions that decide to just block ChatGPT so that it cannot be accessed. "I think the ban is justified. They certainly want to make sure students learn critical thinking skills and how to write," said Aumann.

However, in universities, ChatGPT is still free of access, besides, it is quite easy to get around it if it is blocked. "We want to give freedom to treat ChatGPT according to their respective suitability," he said. Certainly not included to help write college assignments.
