Tokopedia said that the categories of health, beauty, fashion, gadgets, food and beverages are still being sought after by Gen Z in 2022. This is inseparable from the high level of Gen Z in utilizing online shopping applications.

"Online shopping is still the people's choice, including Generation Z or Gen Z (age 18-24 years). Throughout 2022, for example, the categories of health, beauty, fashion, mobile phones and gadgets, as well as food and beverages will be the most searched for by Gen Z on Tokopedia. "Tokopedia Head of External Communications Ekhel Chandra Wijaya said in a written statement, Monday (30/1/2023).


He added that the development of this trend is inseparable from the high awareness of Gen Z to maintain health through implementing health protocols. This can be seen from a number of health products that are selling well for Gen Z.


"Gen Z tends to have a high awareness of the importance of implementing health protocols. In the health category at Tokopedia, for example medical mask products, herbal medicines and tissues are products that are selling well among Gen Z during 2022," he said.


"This is evident from the products of facial serum, face cream and facial cleanser, which are the most purchased products for Gen Z through the Beauty category on Tokopedia," he continued.


In addition, regarding the appearance of Gen Z, they also pay more attention. They bought a lot of stuff to support the appearance.


"In the women's fashion sub-category, sling bags, rectangular hijabs and sandals were the best-selling products, while in the men's fashion sub-category, t-shirts, sneakers and shirts were the best-selling products being hunted by Gen Z through Tokopedia," he explained.



He added that the uniqueness of Gen Z can also be seen from their habit of shopping for electronic needs. Tokopedia notes that at least there are a number of electronic products that are in demand for Gen Z, such as data cables, Android devices, and cellphone screen protectors.


"On the other hand, in the food and beverage category at Tokopedia, Gen Z most often buys instant noodles, chips, and biscuits and wafers," he said.


According to him, the high interest was also influenced by a number of initiatives presented by Tokopedia. Because the initiative in the form of a promo that is presented is able to provide convenience to the community, especially Gen Z, in meeting their various needs.
