Oppo started sharing the Reno8 T teaser ahead of its launch. After unveiling the new design and colors, it's time for camera capabilities and other improvements.
The improvement brought by Reno8 T was implied by its name. The 'T' in the name Reno8 T means 'topped up'.
The first improvement can be seen in terms of the camera. Reno8 T is the first Reno cellphone to carry a 100 MP portrait camera. Apart from that, the Reno8 T also features a 40x micro camera, a 2 MP bokeh camera and a 32 MP front camera.
Aryo said this 100 MP camera is special because it uses a special sensor, not just a software algorithm to produce 100 MP photos. Photos using this 100 MP sensor can also be zoomed and cropped without losing object details.
The size of the 100 MP file captured by the Reno8 T is around 25 to 35 MB. So it's quite large, enough to be printed in large sizes.
The second improvement is in terms of design. Oppo Reno8 T comes in two color variants, namely Sunset Orange and Midnight Black. Especially for the Sunset Orange variant, it uses a fiberglass-leather design with a leather stitching effect around the rear camera module.
We have tested this material through a popular test, namely rubbing it with alcohol 5,000 times, rubbing it on jeans or denim 200,000 times, and rubbing it with rubber material 100,000 times.
Apart from that, the Orbit Light, which is the hallmark of the Reno8 line, has also been improved on the Reno8 T. The Orbit Light is now placed in the camera module and can be personalized with various color choices that will light up when a notification comes in.
Finally, the Oppo Reno8 T promises smooth operation for 48 months, higher than the other Reno8 variants which last 36 months. Reno8 T itself will come with ColorOS 13 based on Android 13 which is equipped with a number of security and privacy features.
