OpenAI today announced their new model, GPT-4o, and in parallel also introduced a desktop application for ChatGPT. The desktop application was introduced first for MacOS paid users, and is expected to be extended to Windows users soon.
OpenAI also stated that they will soon expand their desktop application offering to free users.
The interesting thing about the OpenAI application is that users can activate it through a shortcut (Option + Space) on the computer, and ask any question immediately while doing any task. You can also choose to upload pictures and record screenshots while using this desktop application.
With this step, it will make it easier for users to use ChatGPT as their task assistant on the computer, without having to go to the ChatGPT site through a web browser only.
