Windows May Soon Imprint Text On Android Device Pictures For Copying

OCR or Optical Character Recognition is a feature that has become increasingly popular since it was integrated into iOS. It features text detection on images for easy copying, direct pressing of links or quick access to QR code content. Most recently, Windows is testing a feature that can detect text on images stored in Android devices.

This feature can only be used via Phone Link. When your Android device is paired with Phone Link, Windows can access the content in the photo gallery if the user has permission. When viewing a photo, Phone Link can now detect text for easy copying. According to sources, this feature is not as good as OCR already built into Android or iOS devices.

A few weeks ago, Windows also updated the Snipping Tool to support the same feature. It can not only detect the text but can also read the QR code and directly open the content. If you want to try this feature, Phone Link must be updated to version 1.24051.91.0 and running on a Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.3646 device.
