Apple Given 90 Days to Allow Sideloading Apps in Brazil

Apple has been given 90 days by a Brazilian court to allow sideloading apps. The court previously ruled in favor of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), which said Apple was using its dominant position to dominate the app market to the point of not allowing competition. This, CADE said, was unfair to Brazilian developers who had to pay Apple 30% of app fees for using the App Store ecosystem.

The injunction was issued in December last year to block the original order. The court now says Apple allowed third-party stores in the European Union (EU) to comply with the DMA last year without any negative impact on their business.

Apple issued a statement saying it was “concerned that the interim measures proposed by CADE would compromise user privacy and security and intends to appeal today’s decision.”
