Amazon Now Deploys 1 Million Robots in Warehouses, Introduces DeepFleet AI Technology

Amazon announced that it has recently deployed its millionth robot in its warehouse in Japan. The announcement was made by Scott Dresser, Vice President of Amazon Robotics.

It also marks the 300th time Amazon has deployed a variety of robots in its daily operations at 300 locations worldwide, making Amazon the world’s largest manufacturer and user of mobile robots.

He also announced the deployment of a new generative AI technology called DeepFleet. This AI technology is said to streamline the routes of Amazon’s robots and speed them up by 10 percent.

Scott likens this AI technology to a smart traffic system that allows vehicles on the road to move quickly. By automating the direction of these robots, Amazon can ensure that customer goods can be shipped out faster.

DeepFleet was developed using its own data and tools such as Amazon Web Services and Amazon SageMaker. This system is expected to become more efficient in the future as more robots are deployed in Amazon warehouses, so it is a good investment for them.

While Amazon is increasingly reliant on its warehouse robots, Scott also said that they have trained 700,000 Amazon employees through various training programs in robotics maintenance and engineering.

The reliance on robots to sort and deliver goods from shelves to vehicles is also seen as a way for Amazon to view workplace safety. Workers are given the opportunity to increase their knowledge in more technical areas, while the heavy lifting can be handled by these warehouse robots.
