Nokia Reportedly Considering Brand Licensing With New Partners

Nokia is reportedly re-evaluating its brand licensing approach in the smartphone segment following the end of its partnership with HMD Global last year. This comes after HMD took steps to replace Nokia models with new HMD-branded offerings that are now exclusively displayed on its official website.

Sources said that Nokia is open to partnering with large-scale smartphone manufacturers in an effort to ensure the continuity of its brand in the market. Although there has been no official announcement, this statement shows Nokia's continued interest in remaining relevant in the global mobile device industry.

Previously, Nokia had licensed its brand with several companies in the consumer electronics segment including Streamview for televisions, RichGo for audio accessories, and OFF Global for laptops. However, all of these licensing agreements have reportedly been terminated, thus creating the need for a new licensing strategy.

In other developments, HMD Global has announced the reduction of operations in the United States, which is seen as an indication of the challenges it faces in the global market. Meanwhile, Nokia denied speculation about a possible acquisition of its network business by Samsung. However, several reports suggest that talks worth around $10 billion may be underway between the two companies. Nokia is expected to share its financial report for the second quarter of 2025 in the near future.
