Influencers in the UAE Must Have a Government Permit Before Publishing Promotional Partnerships

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is now coming up with a new law, which will come into effect from October 2025, all influencers in the UAE will need to have a government permit before publishing any promotional partnerships on social media.

Under this law, all promotional partnerships – whether paid or unpaid, are subject to obtaining a permit first. Applicants who want to obtain a permit must be 18 years of age or older.

With this move, it is expected to improve a number of things in the content publishing industry, including ensuring that companies or brands make better payments to influencers. At the same time, many see it as a positive step, where content publishing is now given attention and has become a recognized sector.

In addition, this will also simplify various processes, including taxation by the government.

In addition to the UAE, Saudi Arabia has also previously introduced a license or permit for influencers to generate income through advertising, where influencers need to obtain a license worth around SAR 15,000 which can be used for three years. The absence of this license can lead to fines due to violations of the law.
