The first selfie using a film camera is believed to have been taken by Robert Cornelius in 1836. He took a picture of himself in a mirror. Now billions of selfies are taken every year because smartphones have built-in selfie cameras. This year the Rollei Powerflex X8 was launched and it was the first digital camera equipped with a selfie camera.
It has two cameras with a sensor for the main lens on the front measuring 64MP while the selfie camera has a 1/3.06″ CMOS sensor but there is no information about the megapixel size. With the selfie camera on the back, selfies can be taken without the camera being turned forward.
The main lens can do optical zoom up to 8X with the ability to record video at a maximum setting of 5K 25. A 3.6″ LCD touchscreen is placed on the back to view the captured images because the Powerflex X8 does not have an EVF. A Rollei Powerflex X8 is sold for €299 (~RM 1464) each.
