WhatsApp Can Now Change the Language of Received Messages

Starting today, WhatsApp introduced a feature to change the language of messages received in the application. All received messages can be translated using the “translate” button. On Android, this feature can change all messages to the selected language while on iOS the message must be pressed first.

On Android, this language translation feature supports English, Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian and Arabic. Meanwhile, on iOS it supports 19 languages such as Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese and Korean.

Previously, the message language translation feature was only supported on Galaxy devices through a feature built with Galaxy AI. Through this update, the exclusive feature has been expanded to users of other devices. To ensure privacy, Meta said the language translation process is done on the device without being sent to the cloud for processing.
