Apple is reportedly considering bringing advertising support to its mapping service, Apple Maps, as early as 2026. Through this, it will allow businesses to pay Apple to get better exposure on Apple Maps compared to competitors or other listings.
This offer is expected to operate more or less like how advertising works on the Apple App Store, where app developers can pay to get better rankings on app listings.
However, it is not yet known how user acceptance will be in terms of integrating advertising into the Apple Maps app in the future. At the same time, for now, Apple Maps usage in Malaysia is still low, and many rely on Google Maps to get information related to a location, in addition to also searching through apps and social media services.
