eKYC Verification Required for CIMB OCTO Activation on New Device or After Reset



CIMB Bank Berhad has informed that all new and existing users of the CIMB OCTO app are required to undergo electronic identity verification (eKYC) when activating the app for the first time either on a new device or after a device reset.


This measure is aimed at enhancing security and preventing fraudulent activities in digital banking apps. The first-time login process will take twelve hours as a cooling-off period. After the period ends, users will receive an SMS and can start using the CIMB OCTO app as usual.


Currently, eKYC only accepts MyKad as a valid identification document. Users using documents other than MyKad will need to visit the nearest CIMB branch for physical identity verification. For more information, users can refer to the link in the app or contact the bank.
