Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil has now said that Malaysia will make it mandatory for social media platforms to implement age limits for users, thus ensuring that no users under 13 years of age use social media.
To implement this, the MCMC will hold a meeting with social media companies next week, to discuss steps towards its implementation.
This implementation is also in line with protecting children online. In addition, the government also said that by making this mandatory, it will ensure that social media companies enforce the guidelines already published by their respective platforms regarding accounts involving children.
