Last week, Microsoft updated Windows 11 with the ability for users to chat with their Copilot+ PCs. Microsoft's vision is that in the near future, WIndows 11 computers can be controlled using only the user's voice commands. This morning they introduced several new features that will be provided with the Copilot Fall Release.
First of all, Copilot is now given a memory feature to remember all the interactions that have been made with the user. With this, it can provide relevant and accurate information without the user having to repeat the query several times. This is placed under the Memory & Personalization feature which can provide reminders of birthdays, anniversaries, and also important meetings that need to be attended.
With the help of the Connectors feature, Copilot can be given access to OneDrive, Outlook, Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar. Information and document searches can be done with Copilot across these different services.
Copilot has also been updated to provide accurate information when searching for health. It will use Harvard Health resources so that users do not receive advice that can be harmful.
Groups allow Copilot to be used in groups of up to 32 users simultaneously. The process of finding ideas, writing, planning and learning can be done simultaneously with friends, classmates or office mates. After the discussion session is over, Copilot can provide a summary of the discussion, voting results and also divide tasks to all participants in the Group.
Finally, Copilot now has a cute avatar Mico that interacts with users when speaking. It looks like a water bubble that changes shape when speaking. It is a continuation of Clippy and Cortana, which were previously Microsoft's virtual assistant avatars. In addition to being a virtual assistant, Copilot can also be a teacher through the Learn Live mode.
All the features introduced in the Copilot Fall Release at this time can only be used in the United States first before being given to UK users in stages in the coming weeks.
