vivo has begun promoting its latest software capabilities, OriginOS 6, via a tweet on the X platform. The software will first launch in China on October 10, 2025 before going global on October 15, 2025. The launch marks the first time global users have had the opportunity to try out a software experience that was previously only available for devices in China.
vivo also shared a first look at the interface and several global versions of OriginOS 6. Based on the teaser shared, the main focus is on smoother performance and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered shortcuts.
The new interface features more responsive animations when opening and switching between apps. According to Vivo, the system performance is deeply optimized to ensure that everyday experiences such as scrolling, launching apps, and multitasking are faster and more consistent. Floating windows can now also grow or shrink depending on the app being used to provide a more comprehensive viewing experience.
In a demo, dragging a photo to the crop section will trigger instant sharing suggestions, making the editing and sending process more comprehensive. OriginOS 6 is also seen to be influenced by Apple's Dynamic Island feature, but vivo is putting more emphasis on AI through an optional prediction system that could potentially be useful to users in various daily situations.
In addition to the main features, the OriginOS 6 update is also expected to introduce updated widgets, new privacy controls, and various design improvements. As of now, OriginOS is only available for devices in China while global models use Funtouch OS. This launch shows the potential of OriginOS 6 to replace Funtouch OS on global devices in the future.
Ahead of the global launch, vivo is allowing X200 Pro owners to try out the operating system early through the OriginOS 6 Preview Program with only 500 slots available for interested users.
To participate, users need to ensure their devices are updated to system version 15.0.14.1 or later. Next, users can go to Settings > System Update > Settings (top right) > Trial Version > Sign Up for Closed Beta.
If selected, users can access OriginOS 6 via Settings > System Upgrade. The program is labeled as closed beta, and users are advised to be prepared to encounter some bugs during the trial period.
