Power outages have been reported by consumers around the Klang Valley for the past hour. Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) social media pages have so far only said the outage occurred in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur. However, based on our survey on social media, there were also outages in various other areas around the Klang Valley.
Outages were also reported in Johor Bahru, Ipoh and Negeri Sembilan. There is still no information whether the outages in all these areas are related to each other. They occurred in small areas and did not cover the entire city.
Through an update on Facebook, TNB has confirmed that there has been a power outage around the Klang Valley and Johor Bahru areas due to an issue at the Independent Generator Station, Edra Power Plant in Melaka. TNB's technical team is working to gradually restore power to affected consumers. Several areas have started to receive electricity back as usual.
