Samsung has announced a partnership with NVIDIA, stating that it plans to buy 50,000 NVIDIA GPUs, and will use them to build a special facility called the “AI Mega Factory”.
Samsung did not share further details about it, but stated that it wants to improve the production of chips for mobile devices and robots through the use of these GPUs. This AI factory is said to integrate various aspects of semiconductor production from design to processing, operations and quality control. AI will be used to continuously analyze, and at the same time predict and optimize production in real time.
Samsung said that they are also working with NVIDIA in various variations, including in enabling the development of robots that recognize the environment, and can make intelligent operational decisions.
This partnership with Samsung was seen to be announced in parallel with the visit of NVIDIA CEO to South Korea this week. In addition to working with Samsung, NVIDIA was also seen announcing partnerships with Hyundai and SK Group in the country.
