TP-Link is a globally renowned networking brand. In the United States, TP-Link products are said to account for a large percentage of the network products used in the country.
Recently, there have been several reports that a number of government agencies are in the process of banning the use of TP-Link routers in the country. This is because they say that TP-Link may be forced to hand over network details to the Chinese government if requested.
This is not new. Previously, TP-Link Technologies has faced the same issue, which led them to open a new business entity specifically for the US market.
In fact, a company spokesperson said that TP-Link in the US has no connection with any entity in China, and therefore, is not bound by the law that requires companies to provide user details of their products to the government.
At present, the US government has not revealed any solid evidence about the need to ban the product, or when they will do so. The US President is currently at the APEC conference in South Korea and is seen discussing various trade issues with the Chinese side.
