Maybank has released an update on biometric verification for Secure2u approval via the MAE app which is being introduced in phases starting now. This step is taken to enhance the security of users’ online banking.
With this enhancement, Secure2u will use biometric verification such as Face ID or fingerprint to prevent unauthorized transactions. It complements existing security features such as single device access, malware protection and Money Lock to ensure that users remain protected.
This enhancement will be provided first for third-party transfers such as Interbank Fund Transfer (IBFT), Interbank Giro (IBG) and DuitNow transfers, while other services will follow in phases.
To use this feature, if biometric verification is enabled on the device, users simply need to perform the transaction as usual. Then tap ‘Approve’ on the Secure2u screen and use Face ID, facial recognition or fingerprint when prompted.
Once verified, your transaction will be approved as usual. However, if biometric authentication is not enabled or fails, you can still approve transactions using the six-digit MAE PIN that was set during application registration.
If users suspect unauthorized access to their account, they are advised to immediately activate the Kill Switch feature via the MAE app or Maybank2u website so that access can be temporarily blocked and funds protected.
