The Windows Insider program for the Windows 11 operating system allows hardcore users of the operating system to try out various new features that Microsoft will introduce in the future, and at the same time, allows Microsoft to quickly get feedback on these features and also bugs or issues if they are found.
Recently, Microsoft has announced that they will introduce several new features through the program that are expected to help users' productivity and also solve memory-related problems if they encounter issues with their computers.
The first is the Proactive Memory Diagnostics feature, which is a feature that will scan the computer's memory components to find out if they have any problems. Usually, memory components are the most difficult to check, so with this function built in, users are expected to get more information about what issues are plaguing them.
If your system restarts unexpectedly (due to BSOD or others), the operating system will give you the option to start memory diagnostics, and your computer will restart for a memory component scan that will take about 5 minutes. Details about this diagnosis will also be sent to Microsoft to help them determine the connection between memory issues and why your computer is shutting down unexpectedly.
Microsoft also said that this feature will only be offered to Windows Insiders with x64 computers for now, and not for Arm computers (Qualcomm Snapdragon chips).
Microsoft will also introduce a Copy & Search function to the taskbar search box. Any text you copy will activate a search bar that will give users the option to quickly search for content about it.
Another new feature is an update to Voice Typing, namely Wait Time Before Acting. This function will allow users to modify the level of capture of the user's speech, and will give the user time to speak at a more comfortable pace before the computer captures the user's speech and converts it to text.
Interestingly, this function will be introduced to all versions of Windows 11, and not just those with CoPilot capabilities.
Microsoft says that this update has already begun to be offered to all Windows Insider participants via the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.6982 (KB5067109) update which was introduced today.
