The wait of almost 20 years is finally over as Google today announced that sending files between Android devices and iPhones can now be done using the QuickShare and AirDrop protocols. When the QuickShare system is used, iPhone devices can be seen in the list of devices that can receive transfers and in AirDrop, Android devices can also be seen.
But at this point this new feature is only supported on Google Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold devices only. Support will be expanded to other Android devices in the future. So far, supporting cross-operating system file transfers has only been possible through third-party applications such as LocalSend.
Using the QuickShare and AirDrop protocols is more secure because they are built into Android devices and iPhones are supported directly at the system level.
