Samsung Display sued BOE several years ago, alleging that the company infringed on intellectual property rights for OLED screen technology. As a result of the lawsuit, devices using BOE screens faced a ban on sales in the United States.
According to a Yonhap report, the two companies agreed to settle the issue out of court. It is not known what the agreement was between the two companies, but it is likely that BOE will have to pay royalties for using Samsung's OLED patents that were allegedly infringed.
Samsung is the largest manufacturer of OLED panels for smartphones. But recently, devices manufactured in China have started using BOE panels because they are cheaper. Among the companies using BOE panels are Apple, Huawei, Vivo, OnePlus and Oppo.
