Apple and Samsung are the two companies that have produced the largest number of smartphones in the world over the past decade. Both are the most widely used brands. This year, Counterpoint Research predicts that Apple will become the world's largest smartphone manufacturer, overtaking Samsung for the first time since 2011.
According to them, Apple will produce 243 million iPhones while Samsung will produce 235 million Galaxy phones. This gives Apple a 19.4% market share compared to Samsung's 18.7%.
Samsung's position as the world's largest smartphone manufacturer is beginning to falter due to the increasingly attractive offerings from companies from China. In the Android world, other manufacturers are bolder in offering innovations than Samsung. Samsung is still able to survive because their devices are marketed in more countries than competitors such as Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Huawei and Honor.
